City of Eustis to Host “The Moving Wall” Vietnam Veterans Memorial

Posted on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 1:29 am

The City of Eustis will host The Moving Wall Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Downtown Eustis from April 27 – May 1, 2017. The Moving Wall is a half-size replica of the Washington, D.C. Vietnam Veterans Memorial which honors soldiers who died serving our country in the Vietnam War.
The Moving Wall will be hosted in conjunction with the City’s second annual Bikefest Music Festival and will bring patriotic-themed performances to the Bay Street Players Theatre and the art exhibit, “Voices From Vietnam” by Charlene Edwards, to the Lake Eustis Museum of Art.
“The Vietnam Wall stands as a reminder of the ultimate sacrifice that men and women made and helps to heal the wounds from the War,” said The Moving Wall Committee Member and Vietnam Veteran, Michael Pergola. “The Moving Wall was created to allow people from across America, who may otherwise be unable to make the trip to Washington, D.C., the opportunity to visit the monument in their hometown.”
Event organizers are seeking donations of various supplies and sponsorships to help facilitate the project — and for volunteers to help with set up/take down of The Moving Wall or to help escort visitors needing on- site assistance. If you are interested in sponsorship, volunteer or donation opportunities, please visit the City’s website at www.eustis.org or contact Eustis Event Coordinator, Erin Bailey at (352) 483-5491 or themovingwall@eustis.org.
