Athens NY Style Diner opened three months ago at 18750 US Hwy 441 in Mount Dora and has been getting rave reviews. The spacious 5200 square foot diner seats 120 people plus carries along the theme of a true diner with the classic counter seating; the only one of its kind in Lake County.

The diner is family owned and operated by Christopher Kitrinos and Amber Macaluso; originally from upstate New York and New Jersey. Chris and Amber are excited to bring a diner to Mount Dora. Diners are known for delicious homemade foods, served in large portions at a small price. They serve the same kind of food that you would expect at Grandmas house.

The Executive chef, Christopher Kitrinos who is Christophers father, came out of retirement from Rodchester to join his son. All of the food is homemade and prepared fresh daily. You will also love his desserts ranging from cannolis, lemon meringue, bread pudding, cheesecakes and his personal favorite; the Greek dessert baklava.

The restaurant opens for breakfast Monday through Saturday at 6:30 a.m. and Sundays at 7:00 a.m. The most popular breakfast entrees are frittatas, eggs benedit and Belgian waffles.

There are over 100 dishes to choose from for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Customer favorites come from their Greek section which includes gyros, spanakopita and mousaka. Other popular menu items are lamb shanks, prime rib, Virginian baked ham, chicken marsala, & chicken Athens. Christopher has brought a few specials down from Rochester, NY such as the 12oz Haddock fish fry served on special Wednesdays and Fridays along with the popular Zweigles hot dog.
