Come out to Cadwell Park on October 19
It is with excitement that we welcome you to the 20th Anniversary of the Florida Wildlife Festival!
What began as a modest attempt to educate and inspire the public to enjoy our beautiful Florida wildlife has grown to its peak. This year’s celebration is expected to be the biggest yet, with new events to make an entire day of free family fun!
Come on out to Umatilla’s beautiful Cadwell Park on October 19, 2019! The official fun begins at 11 a.m., but if you’re up for an early morning run the Umatilla Kiwanis will hold their 5th Annual 5k Run at 7:30 a.m. Although the festival ends at 4 p.m., the fun restarts at 5 p.m. with a BBQ Chili Cook-Off!
When you arrive at the festival, be sure to stop by the booth for the Florida Black Bear Scenic Byway and sign up for a first-come, first-served tour of a portion of the Byway. The bus departs at 12 p.m. sharp, and you should be prepared with some bottled water and good walking shoes, as a short hike will be part of your excur-sion! You are encouraged to call the Umatilla Chamber of Commerce at 352-669-3511 to reserve your spot in advance.
Throughout the day, there will be educational activi-ties, a pumpkin patch, a hay ride, a 50/50 raffle, bal-loon pop, live music by Nathan Jay Leslie early on and then the Bucket List in the evening, face painting and a cornhole tournament. If there was ever a year to attend, this one is it. You’ll even have a chance to hold a live alligator!
Thank you to all of those who have volunteered and worked tirelessly to put on this festival year after year! Your efforts have inspired a new generation, in a new century, to become involved in preserving our little space in paradise.
