Tavares Crossroads Veterinary Clinic in cooperation with LEASH, Inc., is offering to microchip your pet at no charge on Thursday, August 22 from 5:00 – 6:00 pm and no appointment is necessary. Proof of Lake County Florida residency and a valid rabies certificate is required. Microchipping is an effective way to be sure your pet can be identified if he or she is ever lost. The microchip is inserted just under the skin, typically between the shoulder blades. Each microchip contains a registration number and the phone number of the registry for the particular brand of chip. When your pet is found, a handheld scanner reads the radio frequency of the chip and displays this information. An animal shelter or vet can then call the registry to find your name and phone number so your pet can be safely returned to you. If your pet is not yet chipped, now is the perfect opportunity to have this done at no charge.
The address for Tavares Crossroads Veterinary Clinic is 2030 State Road 19 in Tavares. If you have any questions, please call 352-343-0300.
