“Memories in the Garden” will be the theme for Lakes & Hills Garden Club’s 15th Annual Garden Tour, inspired by the Club celebrating the 70th anniversary of their founding. Five gardens will be available for touring within easy driving distance of the registration at the Clubhouse in Country Club of Mount Dora, just off Route 441 at 1900 Country Club Road in Mount Dora.
“Each of the gardens has its own unique features,” shares Jayne Thompson-Meiers, this year’s Tour Chairman. “Some of the gardens began as a blank slate with a pack of zinnia seeds, others were abandoned and overgrown sites that had to be tamed. The gardeners’ nurturing and experimenting with plants that would thrive in our unique environment have created memories that they are happy to share with the Tour.”
Several members will be at each of the garden sites to help guide visitors and answer any questions. The Garden Central Shop will also be located at the registration site. You will find a large variety of garden themed items for your own home and garden, all hand made by our garden club members.
The tour hours are Saturday, March 30th from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Sunday March 31st from noon – 4 p.m. Tickets can be obtained on the day of the event at the Clubhouse in the Country Club of Mount Dora, or you can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for additional ticket and tour information.
Proceeds from the tour enables the Club to maintain 3 city parks, 2 public gardens, establish and maintain a Gold Star Memorial and Blue Star Memorial, send 20 local students to summer camp, provide youth projects at local schools, and support for Lake Cares Pantry, Trout Lake Nature Center, and the Discovery Gardens.
