Mount Dora Lawn Bowling Club To Host Lake Senior Games Bowling Tournament And Public Open House

The Mount Dora Lawn Bowling Club will host a bowling tournament on Saturday, April 21, 2018 beginning at 9 a.m. as part of the month long Lake Senior Games. The public is invited to come observe the bowling games from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., meet some of the club’s members and also try out the sport by rolling some bowls with the assistance of one of the club’s members.
Lake Senior Games is sanctioned by the Florida Sports Foundation and is a qualifier for the Florida Senior Games State Championships. Seniors over 50 years of age will participate in a wide variety of sporting events during April, 2018 at a number of different venues. The mission of Lake Senior Games is to inspire and nurture senior’s safe, active and healthy spirit – one senior, one event, and one educational moment at a time!
Lawn bowling has been a sporting event in the Lake Senior Games for several years at the Mount Dora Lawn Bowling Club. The Mount Dora Lawn Bowling Club, celebrating its 90th anniversary in April, 2018, was established in 1928 and has operated at its location at the foot of Donnelly Street near Evans Park for its entire existence. The Mount Dora Lawn Bowling Club has 287 members and is one of the largest of 75 BowlsUSA lawn bowling clubs in the USA. In addition to lawn bowling, the club has a modern clubhouse in which a wide variety of interior games are played by its members throughout each month, including bridge, mah johgg, euchre, bunco and trivia and yoga classes are also held.
