The City of Mount Dora will have a ribbon cutting for the newly finished Palm Island Boardwalk on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 9:00 a.m.
“This has been a labor of love that started three years ago with many supporters. It completes the full boardwalk restoration that we started several years ago and replaced a 25-year-old boardwalk. This new boardwalk is expected to last at least 50 years or longer,” said Roy Hughes, Director of Parks and Recreation for the city.
Palm Island Park is located at the end of Liberty Avenue and south of Tremain Street on Lake Dora. This 8-acre natural preservation area offers three picnic pavilions, trails and a wood boardwalk winding through a wooded nature area boasting of native trees and plants.
Palm Island Park is an escape into the wilderness of Mount Dora and Central Florida. The boardwalk offers view of Lake Dora, wildlife, trees and plants.
