Lake County Library System card holders have a chance to show off their photography skills in a pollinator contest being held by the W.T. Bland Public Library.
The Library is looking for original photographs from the Nunan Butterfly Garden, located at the W.T. Bland Public Library. The contest is not photographs of plants and flowers; it is photographs of pollinators that will earn cash prizes.
A pollinator transfers pollen from flower to flower and includes caterpillars, butterflies, bees, bats and hummingbirds, all of which can be found in the Nunan Butterfly Garden. For more information on what a pollinator is, head to www.fs.fed.us/wildflowers/pollinators.
The photography contest will consist of three age categories: Ages 6 – 10; Ages 11 – 17; Ages 18 and over. First prize will be $30, second prize will be $20 and third will take home $15. There will be honorable mention(s) at the judges’ discretion. On Sunday, July 28, 2019, the photographs and winners will be unveiled in the Library Lobby at 1:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend and the winners will receive notice by July 24th.
