The Modernism Museum is pleased to welcome back Stardust Memories — The David Bowie Tribute Band for an unforgettable concert celebrating the 50th anniversary of Bowie’s first #1 hit, Space Oddity. The concert will take place in the Modernism Museum gallery on Saturday, July 13th at 7:00 PM. Doors open at 6:30 PM. Sparkling and white wine are included with your admission.
Join the Museum and Stardust Memories as we celebrate the great artist and talent that, exactly 50 years ago, created Space Oddity — an iconic, timeless song written and recorded by Bowie and first released as a 7” single on July 11th, 1969. Experience an intimate evening of stories and acoustic renditions of many of Bowie’s top hits and deep cuts in this “unplugged” performance, in the style of VH1 Storytellers.
Although this will be an acoustic concert, Stardust Memories will still include all the dramatic costume changes and theatrics both they and Bowie are famous for. This concert coincides with the opening of the Modernism Museum’s latest exhibit: SPACE ODDITIES: BOWIE | SOTTSASS | MEMPHIS: THE SEQUEL. This new exhibit expands upon the Modernism Museum’s exhibition of mind-bending Post-Modern designs created by the radical 1980s design collective known as Memphis. This exhibit features a re-creation of the remarkable 2016 Sotheby’s auction of Bowie’s personal Memphis collection, which was assembled over decades of careful consideration. The exhibit includes many important pieces personally owned by the legendary pop icon, artist, author, actor and astute art collector.
Admission is $20 for 3MD members and $30 for non-members and includes sparkling and white wine. Doors open at 6:30 PM. Tickets can be purchased at the museum or online by visiting https://ezticketapp.com/?s=ez4571.
