Hydroponic Produce at the X Farms U-Pick Strawberries, Blueberries and Tomatoes

x farms front page

One of the first questions many customers ask is “What’s hydroponics?” The answer is: soilless gardening. We use a coconut fiber/bark mixture. Other medias include water, peat moss and perlite.
Using the Verti-gro system of stackable pots allows maximum production in a smaller space. This system feeds automatically down from the top of the growing towers, just the right amount to wet each pot and then stops, not wasting water or energy. We also sell a homeowner kit for the gardening enthusiast.
Some of the many kinds of produce grown are strawberries, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, broccoli, onions, beets, kale and cabbage, just to name a few. We have plants started at all times in our mist house and they too are available for purchase.
U-pick strawberries and tomatoes have been available for two weeks now and guess what? No bending! That’s right, stand straight up and pick from the towers, but come early because they get thinned out daily around 2 p.m. We will also have u-pick blueberries available around the first week of April.
We are located at CR546 and SR471 between Webster and Sumterville, approximately three miles north of 48 and three and a half miles south of 470 (352-569-3276).
Stop by for a tour of the farm and enjoy the fun atmosphere, knowing that you are buying healthy produce all grown locally right here in Sumter Count
