Tax season is fast approaching, and some local libraries are offering tax assistance services this year.

Leesburg Public Library, Tavares Public Library, Fruitland Park Library and Lady Lake Public Library will host AARP Tax Aide. This program is offered through the AARP Foundation, in coordination with the IRS.

Tax-Aide provides in-person and online tax preparation and assistance nationwide. Because of the complexity of the U.S. tax code, many taxpayers may overpay their taxes or turn to paid tax services they cannot afford. Some may forgo filing their taxes and miss out on credits and deductions they’ve earned because they are unable to pay for assistance.

Appointments are required at Leesburg Public Library. Call 352-717-4125 and leave a voicemail, email leesburgtax@gmail.com or make an appointment in person at the library.

Appointments also are required at Tavares Public Library. To schedule an appointment, call 352-717-4125 and leave a message. A tax scheduler will return your call to confirm your appointment.

To make an appointment at Fruitland Park Library, visit https://villagestaxaide.com.

Appointments at Lady Lake Public Library must be made online at https://villagestaxaide.com.

Other Lake County libraries will have a limited number of IRS tax forms for area taxpayers. Tax forms can also be downloaded online from irs.gov.
