Pioneer Days Festival
Wednesday, September 1, 2010
For 36 years, the Florida Pioneer Museum and Village in Dade City has been hosting Pioneer Days on Labor Day weekend. Thousands of people from all over Florida and beyond join us to step back to a time when settlers carved a living out of Florida's wilderness, Seminoles fought for their land against Federal soldiers, and citrus and cattle were just starting to become Florida trademarks.
This year's event is an exciting and diverse array of special performances and exhibitions, including a raid on a settler's house by Seminole re-enactors, soldier's encampment and musket demonstrations, old time fiddler's contest, ice cream churn contests, a Pasco idol singing and line-dancing competition and much, much more.
A signature performance in this year's event is the Paso Fino Parade and Show. Known for their smooth, staccato gait and charming personality, Pasos will perform, then be available for rides after the show. Noted author on Paso Finos, Diego Bravo, will be the Master of Ceremonies for the exhibition.
This year's event will be held on 9am to 9pm on Saturday, and 9am to 5pm on Sunday and Monday, September 4th - 6th. www.pioneerfloridamuseum.org
