Back to School Immunizations
Wednesday, August 4, 2010
Parents are urged not to wait since now is the time to get required immunizations for your children so they can start school. Before children can register for school, parents must provide documentation showing proof of vaccination against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chickenpox), hepatitis B, and polio diseases. Proper proof is considered a Florida Certificate of Immunization or “Blue Card.” The “Blue Card” can be obtained from your physician or your local County Health Department.
To help parents get their children ready to go back to school, the Lake County Health Department has partnered with various organizations and will offer immunizations at the following locations. Immunizations will be provided at no cost and a parent or guardian must bring the child’s current shot records.
Saturday, August 7, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Martin Luther King Center, 803 Florida Avenue, Mount Dora
Saturday, August 14, 9 a.m. until noon at First Baptist Church of Umatilla, 550 Hatfield Drive, Umatilla.
