Local Track Club Athletes Compete at AAU Junior Olympics

Twenty nine members of the Break Away Track Club, located in Clermont, qualified for the AAU Track & Field Junior Olympics. Nineteen of those athletes traveled to Virginia at the end of July to compete in the week long competition. Areas of competition included sprints, distance, steeplechase, race walk, throws, high jump and long jump as well as multi events such as the decathlon. Eleven thousand youth from all over the country participated. Break Away athletes came home with six silver medals and four bronze medals. Congratulations team!
Break Away Track Club is a youth track club for kids ages 8-18. Don DeNoon, our head coach, was a highly successful collegiate coach for 23 years and a previous world record holder. His athletes have ranged from beginners to world champions and also world record holders. Practices are held on Monday thru Thursday from 4:30 - 6:00 PM.
