Lake Tech Spring Term

Have you made your New Year's resolution yet? Consider enrolling in one of Lake Tech's "Career in a Year" programs! At Lake Tech, you can get in, get out, and get a job! Classes are small, very affordable, and the training is hands-on. Students are currently being accepted for the spring term that begins January 23, 2012. Several new programs and classes for 2012 include: Automotive Window Film Installation; Solar, Safety, and Security Film Installation; Digital Design 1 & 2; Medical Assisting; Patient Care Assistant; Phlebotomy; Air Conditioning Helper; Introduction to P/V Solar Installation; and Solar Thermal. Other programs accepting applications include: Accounting Operations; Administrative Assistant; Auto Collision Repair and Refinishing; Automotive Service Technician I & II; Certified Nursing Assistant; Commercial Foods and Culinary Arts; Commercial Foods and Culinary Arts Apprenticeship; day and evening Cosmetology; Early Childhood Education Apprenticeship; Facials Specialty; Home Health Aide; Medium and Heavy Duty Truck and Bus (Diesel Mechanics); Nails Specialty; and day and evening Welding.

A variety of online courses, including Creating Web Pages, Microsoft Office, Speed Spanish, and QuickBooks, are available so you can take a course anytime and anyplace, whatever fits your schedule.

Financial aid, including Pell grants and other scholarships, may be available for those who qualify. Prospective students are strongly encouraged to complete their financial aid paperwork for the spring 2012 term as soon as possible by securing a PIN at www.pin.ed.gov, then applying online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. These grants and scholarships never need to be repaid so you won't have student loans when you graduate.

Beginning in January, Lake Tech will be offering English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and GED Prep classes during the day at the former Mascotte Elementary School. Two new short classes - Automotive Window Film Installation, which begins January 10 and meets Tuesday and Thursday from 9 am to noon; and Solar, Safety, and Security Film Installation, which begins January 10, meets Tuesday and Thursday from 6 - 9 pm will also be offered at this site.

Students attending a Lake County public high school, Florida private secondary school, or home school may be eligible to participate in dual enrollment if they meet required criteria. Dual enrollment students are able to jump start their career while still in high school!

Adult Education day and evening classes, including English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Adult Basic Education (ABE), General Education Development (GED), and Applied Academics for Adult Education (AAAE) are available at various locations throughout Lake County. Online instruction for ABE, GED and AAAE is also available.
