The Color Wheel Revealed

Friday, February 3, 2012

The Color Wheel will be the topic of the February Weavers of Orlando, (WoO) monthly meeting on Saturday, February 18, 2012, at 10 am at the Mount Dora Florida Old Train Station, 341 N. Alexander Street.

Fiber artist and Weavers of Orlando guild member Berna Lowenstein will share how to apply surface design concepts based on the color wheel to weaving projects.

A color wheel is an abstract illustrative organization of color hues around a circle that shows relationships between the three primary colors- red, blue and yellow, the three secondary colors - green, orange and violet, and their complementary or tertiary colors.

Also, mark your calendar for the guild's March meeting, March 3rd at the same time and location, when the topic, kente cloth, will be presented by guest speaker, Mimi Smith. Kente cloth, known locally as nwentoma, is a type of silk and cotton fabric made of interwoven cloth strips and is native to the Akan people and the Ivory Coast of Africa. Ms. Smith will demonstrate how to construct kente cloth and how to use it to make a distinctive, fashionable jacket.
