Lakes and Hills Garden Club February Garden of the Month

The Poinsettia Garden Circle of the Lakes and Hills Garden Club has selected the garden of Gloria Rolon, 362 Old Eustis Road, Mount Dora as the February Garden of the Month.

After hearing the price to replace sod in her yard, Gloria chose to remove all the grass and replace it with trees, shrubs, and perennials. Her garden, only one year old,is well established. With an eye to water conservationand Florida friendly plantings, birds and butterflies abound. Many citrus trees were already in place and provide a canopy for her new plants. Cassia, butterfly bush, bottle brush and Mexican sage are a few of the specimens that provide color. A large assortment of varying colors of lillies as well as a variety of grasses and agave dot the landscape. Gloria has set aside a corner of her yard to propagate plants from seeds and cuttings.
