The Four Brave Chaplains of WWII
Friday, January 27, 2012
In recognition and appreciation to four very special military chaplains, who gave their lives while unselfishly dedicating themselves to their military comrades during the sinking of the U.S.A.T. Dorchester, the officers and members of the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary, District VI, wish to invite you to this Four Chaplains Ceremony. The program will begin with the film "Sacrifice at Sea" at 3 p.m. in the afternoon of February 5, 2012, and will be held at St. Mary of the Lakes Church, 218 Ocklawaha Avenue, Eustis.
This is the true story of what many U.S. Veterans gave for their country. February has been designated as Americanism Month - and we salute active duty members from all the military services.
The four Chaplain's names: Lt. George L. Fox (Methodist); Lt. Alexander D. Goode (Jewish); Lt. John P. Washington (Roman Catholic); Lt. Clark V. Poling (Dutch Reformed).
