Artisans to Showcase Three Artists of the Month in February

Artisans on fifth, a non-profit, artist's co-operative gallery in Mount Dora, will hold its January Artists of the Month Open House on Friday, February 10th, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Featured artists are Marilyn Dodge, jewelry; Karen Hampton, jewelry and Liz Wincup, acrylic paintings. All three artists will exhibit an expanded display of their work in the Artists' Alcove area of the gallery. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Marilyn Dodge is a jewelry artist who specializes in vintage pewter and sterling silver pieces to create her one-of-a-kind bracelets. Her expanded line of jewelry includes the use of semi-precious and precious stones with Swarovski crystals.

Karen Hampton is a polymer clay artist who uses this versatile medium to expand her creativity. Her work includes jewelry and sculpture. Karen creates on the whimsical side which gives her work a light hearted touch.

Liz Wincup is an acrylic painter. In this series of paintings on exhibit "Sentinel Spirits", she uses a semi-abstract format and layers her canvas with washes of color to achieve a richly textured surface. Shown in attachment is "Three Spirits".

Artisans on fifth was founded in 2009, and is entering its third year of business. The cooperative features the works of 27 different local artists in a range of media, including painting, sculpture, wood, glass, jewelry, clay and more. It is located at 134 E. Fifth Avenue, in the same historic brick building as the Mount Dora Center for the Arts.
