Relieve Serious Joint Pain

Thursday, December 29, 2011

Joint replacement surgery is typically recommended to patients who have tried non-surgical treatment but still have severe joint pain. Total joint replacement is one of the safest and most reliable treatments in any area of medicine. When a joint replacement surgery is performed, it is critical that the implanted prosthesis is properly positioned, this will ensure the implant wears well and does not loosen.

In an effort to prevent early wear and loosening of the joint replacement, surgeons are constantly searching for ways to ensure the implant is properly positioned. A Computer-Assisted Surgery (CAS) uses special probes attached to the body to help your surgeon ensure proper positioning of the joint replacement implants. Your surgeon can still check with standard referencing instruments that the positioning is correct, and the computer can provide confirmation of the placement.

On Thursday, January 12, 2012 Donald Perry, MD will present "Current Concepts in Joint Replacement: Pain Management & Computer Assistance" and will feature a live computer demonstration. Held at Florida Hospital Waterman Medical Office Building (3rd floor) Team Rooms 1 & 2, RSVP is required by calling 352-253-3544 or emailing cara.anderson@ahss.org .
